Curriculum

Staff at Saddleworth Primary School differentiate the curriculum to cater for invidual needs, allowing your child to progress at his / her own rate. Every effort is made to provide consistency across the school.

Saddleworth Primary School curriculum is based on the Australian Curriculum, which includes the following areas of study:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Health and Physical Education (HPE)
  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)
  • The Arts
  • Technologies
  • Languages other than English –Auslan

At Saddleworth Primary School we offer a range of specialist subjects to complement the excellent teaching and learning that takes place in our classrooms. At every year level our students have weekly lessons in Creative and Performing Arts. All students are learning to play a musical instrument and express themselves artistically in many forms.

Health and physical education includes the ‘You can do it: program achieve’ curriculum to build resilience, persistence, getting along, confidence and organisation skills. Sport is a strength in our school and wider community. Students have access to a range of sporting activities and skill development delivered by class teachers and qualified coaches through the National Sporting Schools program. Students in Years 4-5-6 have the opportunity to participate in a range of SAPSASA sporting events.

STEM learning using Maker’s empire design thinking and 3D printing program is an exciting time of the week. We have a school vegetable garden and all students are learning to communicate with Auslan signing.
